Welcome to
Roebuck Carmel

Roebuck Carmel

We are a small community situated on Roebuck Road in Dublin 14. Being surrounded by schools and University College Dublin, we are very aware of  young people and their needs.

Founded in 1830 in North William St. in the inner city we eventually arrived in Roebuck in 1877. For the past 131 years we have been a praying presence in the area. We are on the borders of three parishes, Dundrum, Mount Merrion and Bird Ave. to which we belong. Our morning Mass is attended by people from six or seven parishes as they make their way to work. We appreciate their presence and their involvement in the liturgy, -  readers, servers, singers etc. The early birds join us for morning prayer.

Statue of JesusWe reach out with compassion and a listening ear to people who visit regularly during the day to request our prayers for their needs and cares. We especially pray for Priests and their ministry. We receive many letters each week requesting our prayers for the sick, the dying, bereaved, expectant mothers, exams, the anxious and troubled and all the burdens of the day.

Our Chapel opens at 7.00 A.M. and all are welcome to join us for prayer or to quietly visit during the day.

Our main source of income is making Altar Breads for the Eucharist. We supply parishes as far apart as Ballybunion and Kindrum. In this work we are assisted by our lay staff.

Our gardeners keep our spacious grounds in tip top condition, making them a place where we can relax and enjoy God’s gift of nature.

We live each day in the presence of Jesus who is our true friend and guide. With Him beside us we are assured that all will be well.
